Serving Children from Germantown on the campus of Greene Street Friends School

Want to engage as a Summer Volunteer?

We welcome you to consider donating your time and/or talents to our summer program.

If you are able to dedicate your time in any way to Horizons, please fill out this form: Volunteer Application Form

Volunteer Descriptions:

Guest Reader: If you are looking for a way to get involved with Horizons, but are unable to dedicate an extensive amount of time to the program, guest reading is a great opportunity for you to interact with the students! Please pick a book or two of your choice to read to the students on a certain day. You can choose a specific classroom to read to, or you will be assigned randomly.

Free Swim Friday Volunteer: Every Friday of the summer program, we offer kids the chance to swim and play freely in the pool for 30 minutes. Volunteers are needed to oversee this fun time in the water, making sure everything runs smoothly and safely!

Classroom Assistant: Mostly an opportunity for student volunteers, classroom assistants help the Lead Teachers in the classroom. They help to implement directions, run activities, resolve minor issues among students, provide an extra set of hands, and anything else that the Lead Teacher might need.

Field Trip Chaperone: Horizons takes its students on many field trips throughout the summer. Volunteers are needed to help keep these trips run smoothly. If you are able to chaperone a field trip, you will be helping kids to stay focused, get on buses, distribute snacks/lunches, and run activities.

Please contact gcannon@greenestreetfriends.org if you have any other questions or concerns.

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with us!
